Welcome to 2018/19

Welcome back everyone,
I hope you have all been enjoying your winter break and I know many of you are playing other sports and some are still involved in SACA training squads.

As most of you will already know Peter Sleep has taken on a new role and is now the current spin bowling coach for the Sri Lankan Cricket Association, and although we wish Peter every success in his new venture it leaves the club without a Senior Coach. We advertised the vacant position extensively both in Australia and Overseas and Mike Weaver and I have spent a number of weeks filtering through these applications. Although we received a number of very qualified applicants, we interviewed and offered the position to our current First Grade captain, Matthew Weaver.

Matt accepted the position and is very excited about the role and the opportunity the club has given him. Matt’s playing career speaks for itself and we as a club believe he will continue leading the club in the right direction as well as maintaining the first class culture the clubs currently offers.

Matt has spoken to a number of fellow players and coaches and he is in the process of putting together a first class coaching team to get us ready for the coming season. Matt will announce the names of his specialist coaches within due course. To assist Matt the Club is also pleased to announce former player and coach Matthew Primer has been appointed as Matt’s assistant. I am sure everyone will join me in wishing both coaches every success for the coming year.

The club has also made some changes to our Junior program. Ollie Graham is not continuing this season due to work commitments, so we have appointed Andrew Hunter as overall Junior Coach. Again Andrew will announce his game day and assistant coaches in due course.

As an early reminder pre-season training will again be at Mega Courts and we have already booked the following dates:
Juniors will commence on Wednesday 22nd August, 5pm to 6pm for Under 14’s and 6pm to 7pm for Under 16’s. They will then train every Wednesday at these times until Wednesday 26th September when we should be able to get outside.

Senior training will commence on Wednesday 15th August from 7pm until 9pm and at these times until 26th September.
The club will be continuing to use TNF on line for our clothing so I suggest you get in early and order your new gear before the rush.
The Board at TTG are very excited about these appointments and we are looking forward to the start of the new season.

Best regards
Ian Graham
